well i just bought Kaspersky 2009 but it seemed like a lot for something i might not need to the fullest.
i am only in grade 10 and i use the computer for pretty usual uses.
thank you in advanced for your answers
and Kaspersky anti virus was pretty expensive (around 60$) as aposed to Trend Micro or Norton anti virus+Spyware. If i do exchange it i would get Trend micro because it does not slow down the computer like Norton would, but it does take up more memory...
so should i exchange Kaspersky antivirus?
last year that i used Trend Micro i had no problems with viruses.
and i use Firefox
is there one that is better than Trend Mirco but does not slow down computers like Norton?
Kaspersky is a very good program. If you don't like it, well then replace it. If you like Trend, go for it. But Kaspersky rates higher in detection and removal. Not a lot higher but higher. Norton is the lightest running Security program you can get. You can check this on any review of Security software. PC Mag, PC world, Maxim mag. But if you don't like it, there no reason to use it either. I don't know why you changed from Trend in the first place. If happy with a program, why not stick with it. You can get a good deal on anti-virus software at Computersworth.
Trend Internet Security 23.
Kaspersky anti-virus one user $20

This situation began happening right after I upgraded my Symantec Exchange Server Anti Virus and Spam.
I have a 2 workstations out of a network of 80 running (Windows XP) that can see the network however when you try to access the internet I get page can not be displayed. Tried to use wireless to a public network and it still is not able to access the internet.
2 Days later my mail server running Exchange has encountered the same issues. We are able to send emails internally however no one can send outgoing emails or receive them.
The Nic is fine and I ran diagnostics on the server all came back fine.
Neither machine can ping the Gateway 192.168.1.254 however I am able to ping the DNS & both domain servers 192.1.68.1.4 and 192.168.1.6.
When attempting to ping google it times out!

The workstation running on Auto configuration can access the internet if not on the domain.I have tested this by connecting the workstation directly to a DSL line.
I have checked DNS on the Domain Controllers and it is listed in both the Forward and Reverse areas. I removed the computer from Active Directory and re-added it. Still no internet.
Not sure what else to do. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what is causing this?
Domain Controllers are Server 2000 and All other servers on Network are Server 2003. Currently the firewall is disabled.
Need advise quickly as Email is down across the network.
Still sounds like a firewall issue. Which version of Symantec are you using? I am assuming that since you just installed it, it is the newest Enterprise version 11. I have been using symantec enterprise/corporate since version 8. This newest version is horrible and killed the speed on all of my workstations and servers. I ended up removing Version 11 and going back to 10.1/10.2 For my next upgrade I am considering AVG at the recommendation of some peers. I would recommend removing the software.
This is for my home, Windows Vista computer. I have been looking at getting NOD32 for anti virus protection. Is this a good provider for security?
I have heard personal reports that McAfee does not properly secure a computer- that it misses viruses. As well as learning that Norton Antivirus sloooooooows computers to a crawl in exchange for protection (as seen by my Uncle's Windows XP computer).
All that aside- I would like to hear personal opinions. Does NOD32 work? Any other ideas, comments? What about spyware protection?
Nod32 is a very good program.
For anti-maware/spyware use Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware.
I recently purchased security software (BitDefender Gamesafe 2008). It hasn't arrived yet, but i just noticed it was a 2008. Will I have to pay for an upgrade to 2009. Cause I am contacting the vendor to try to exchange it for the 2009 BitDefender that is listed for the same price.
Almost all anti-virus programs just "upgrade" the data file, and they do that every time there's a new virus (good ones will sometimes update a few times a day if there are a few new viruses on the same day). The program doesn't get updated very often - only when someone invents a totally new type of virus (which is rare - 99.999% of viruses are made by "script kiddies" who just change the text and timing of existing viruses).
hello, am completely lost in this computer-related issue, hence need a suggestion in determining whether i shall buy NIS or NAV (both 2007 versions), considering that I have installed a spyware doctor 4.0. I mainly use my computer for almost all internet activities (browsin, download, exchange security info, shoppin, etc). My other question is that whether symatec client firewall is embedded within either NIS or NAV. Thank you.
Everyone I know & myself included have gotten rid of norton. It cost me alot of money to buy norton in the 1st place but it was so not worth it. Norton causes nothing but problems & I've heard of peoples computers being wrecked by norton. I just use what microsoft offers for free & have had no problems for a year. When I got rid of norton I still had 8 months worth of service left. I don't miss it at all. Good luck.
