This situation began happening right after I upgraded my Symantec Exchange Server Anti Virus and Spam.
I have a 2 workstations out of a network of 80 running (Windows XP) that can see the network however when you try to access the internet I get page can not be displayed. Tried to use wireless to a public network and it still is not able to access the internet.
2 Days later my mail server running Exchange has encountered the same issues. We are able to send emails internally however no one can send outgoing emails or receive them.
The Nic is fine and I ran diagnostics on the server all came back fine.
Neither machine can ping the Gateway 192.168.1.254 however I am able to ping the DNS & both domain servers 192.1.68.1.4 and 192.168.1.6.
When attempting to ping google it times out!

The workstation running on Auto configuration can access the internet if not on the domain.I have tested this by connecting the workstation directly to a DSL line.
I have checked DNS on the Domain Controllers and it is listed in both the Forward and Reverse areas. I removed the computer from Active Directory and re-added it. Still no internet.
Not sure what else to do. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what is causing this?
Domain Controllers are Server 2000 and All other servers on Network are Server 2003. Currently the firewall is disabled.
Need advise quickly as Email is down across the network.
Still sounds like a firewall issue. Which version of Symantec are you using? I am assuming that since you just installed it, it is the newest Enterprise version 11. I have been using symantec enterprise/corporate since version 8. This newest version is horrible and killed the speed on all of my workstations and servers. I ended up removing Version 11 and going back to 10.1/10.2 For my next upgrade I am considering AVG at the recommendation of some peers. I would recommend removing the software.

How will I secure my Exchange Server without using third party antivirus or anti-spam? Is there a way I can filter incoming and outgoing mails? Is there a logs? What are needed so that I will not be blocked by my recipients? (RevDNS, SPF Records)
A lower level of paranoia.
Hi everybody
my question is
can i design a program that check the content of database of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, that have extension '.edb'
i wanna design an anti-spam program .
sorry for my english
Thanx
You are going to want to look into how to hook into the Exchange VSAPI. This is the Virus Scanning API that will allow you to access the Exchange database. Check the MSDN site for info on the VSAPI.
I am running exchange server 2007 with the anti spam protection on. Also am running our email through a barracuda firewall. I am still getting spoof emails through (emails that say the senders address is the same as the recievers). Barracuda has not helped much in helping. Has anyone else figured out how to stop these?
I was having the same issue here is what I configured my Anti-Spam agent settings to on exchange. Depending on your deployment you will configure this on your internal Hub Transport server or your external Edge Transport server.
You will need to open the EMC and expand Organization Configuration select Hub Transport and then the Anti-Spam Tab.
The setting that you want to check is under Sender Reputation. Select the Sender confidence check that box and then select the Action tab. I have this set at 7.
I also have the following setup for the rest of the agents.
Content Filtering-
Action tab- Reject SCL = or greater than 7. This is high but I will show you a way to set the global junk email SCL lower that way the users will get the emails to their Junk email folder and if they are valid emails they can keep them.
Set up IP allow list Providers and Block list providers. These are helpful.
Recipient Filtering-
Blocked Recipients- Check the first box.
Sender Filtering-
Action Tab- Reject Message
Sender ID-
Action Tab- This is up to you. I have it set to Stamp message.
To set the Organization junk threshold. This command will show you the current level is.
Open the Exchange Management Shell. Input Get-OrganizationConfig You will see this heading midway down SCLJunkThreshold and the current value. I have this set to 4. The default is 8. To change the value enter set-OrganizationConfig -SCLJunkThreshold and the value.
Be advised that this can be overridden in Outlook by a user. Most users will not be able to make the changes but some may. Users that are getting hit really hard can up their Junk E-mail options to High. The default is low.
Hope this helps.
