i have all type of doubt regarding exchange server........
is it a in build part of windows 2003 server or like windows 2003 datacenter edition, windows 2003 web edition , windows 2003 standard edition etc . is there any separate server operating system called exchange server in market to make a computer " Microsoft exchange server".....thanks for all your response and effort
Exchange Server is a separate mail server program - That runs on 2000/2003 server platform - it is a good product - but expensive - there are other mail severs out their.
This tutorial will show you how to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 on a Windows Server 2003 R2 server. I also go though the system ...
I'm thinking about switching hosted Exchange providers, perhaps even running my own Exchange server as I have in the past. The big challenge is to store my calendar, contacts, etc in such a way that they are easily transferrable to another Exchange server mailbox. Backing up other items such as categories would be nice, but not essential, as I believe those are stored locally in Outlook 2007 ( my client ). Thanks in advance!
If you purchase Microsoft Small Business Server 2003 (which is a fixed price), it seems to come with Exchange Server 2007 and possibly 5 accounts for free. So, if you operate the server in-house, is there a monthly fee (other than registering a domain) associated with exchange? Do you have to purchase and pay monthly for client exchange licenses (CAL)? Thanks!
Ive installed a few sbs2003 servers.
if you are just going to use the 5 cals, you shoud only have to buy yearly cals. You will also need a seperate office license for all systems that are going to connect to the exchange server.
the cool this bout sbs 2003 is that it comes with rww and owa. if you configure owa, then your 5 people can remote into your exchange server to check their email. its pretty cool and easy to setup. i believe you just need to forward port 443 to the ip address of the server.
ohh yeah, you will need to get a static ip address from your Isp, and a cheap router/firewall to do the port forwarding.
other then that you should be good to go. i would suggest you also purchase some sort of spam protection for your exchange server, because if not, you are going to get hit hard by spam. Symantec spam works great, but if you dont want to pay for it, you can also contact any email hosting company in your town and see if you can use them as a gateway.
hope that helps
My dad is interested in getting one for his business, he already has a server, but not the exchange software. Could you please help me understand how the exchange server works?
Read Microsoft's documentation on Exchange, it goes into a lot of detail on Exchange.
What are the operational requirements (hardware requirements and day to day maintenance/management tasks) of MS Exchange (2007) server, running on a network with AD?
What’s new in Exchange Server 2010 and what features from Exchange Server 2007 have been deprecated? What has been done to further bring Exchange with Dynamic Directory? In an elicit from his new rules, Jaap gives a rooftop estimate of Exchange's new features and their gist, and spells out the predominating reasons why it is usefulness upgrading.
First things first – let’s compensate for some principal offing: Exchange Server 2010 is an e-letters and calendaring devotion that runs on Windows Server 2008 and, like its predecessor Exchange Server 2007, can also desegregate with your phone system. It is the seventh main interpretation of the yield and, while not radical, it does comprehend some well-connected changes and lots of teeny improvements over Exchange Server 2007.
The scalability of Exchange Server 2010 has improved, uniquely when compared to the complex storage requirements of Exchange Server 2007. The purchaser happening has also improved in Opinion Web App, and a lot of complex issues have seen solved, or the involvement has been removed, to clear the way the administrator’s living much easier.
In this article I will give a short-lived overview of what’s changed in Exchange Server 2010, what the new features are, what features have been removed, and how it makes your autobiography as an Exchange administrator easier.
Under The Hood: What's changed?By far the most worthy convert with veneration to Exchange Server 2007 is the new Database Availability Catalogue. This will appropriate you to conceive multiple copies of an Exchange Server database within your shape, and you are no longer likely to a special to install (like in Exchange Server 2007), but can now tour of duty across multiple sites. Microsoft has also successfully transformed Group Connected Replication and Fail to keep an appointment with support-by Interminable Replication into a new ‘Uninterrupted Availability’ technology.
While on the keynote of simplifying, a lot of SysAdmins were having difficulties with the Windows Server drown in red ink-over clustering, so Microsoft has unqualifiedly ‘removed’ this from the yield. The components are still there, but they are now managed using the Exchange Bosses Solace or Exchange Running Cartridge.
