In a few countries, it's regulated by the govt.

The benefits of travel credit card differ with the issuer. Some travel credit cards are exclusive to certain airlines such as Delta, Northwest or Jet Blue others offer a range of airlines to choose from. The rewards of some travel cards are limited to free airmiles only whereas some offer a good number of benefits as mentioned above. So, It is always advisable to look around and compare the various offers available from good credit card providers and settle for the one which provides the maximum advantage and benefits with minimum incurred costs.
Another issue that crops up with a travel reward credit card is the bonus that you get when you sign up with the credit card company or do your first purchase with the credit card. Many companies offer bonus airmiles when you get the credit card or when you make the first purchase. These bonus points give you a head-start in redeeming the benefits and getting a free trip. The travel reward points get accumulated as you travel more by using your travel reward credit card. Some credit card companies give you one point for every dollar you spent, some reward you better when you fly with their preferred partner. why do Chinese people have to use RMB$8 to exchange US$1 ? however, Malaysian have to puchase US$1 by MY$3.5 ?
What is the main reason and start from which event or period ?
The differences between currencies come essentially two factors:
- the strength of the countries economies
- the rate of long and short term bonds in the country and the solidity of it´s finances.
Investors buy currencies not so much to invest in them, but to buy products, stocks and bonds from that country. The American dollar has the added advantage that oil is paid in dollars.
I am going on holiday to Nice (southern france) and was wondering how to get the best exchange rate? I am going with 5 other friends and we need to exchange £320 each so £1920 all together (6*320).
If we exchanged together would it be better? Or is it the same no matter how much you exchange? Also if you do get a better exchange rate with more money, how much do you need to exchange???
Would appreciate any answers, suggestions etc. : )
It is the same no matter what. You can get good exchange rates though if you exchange at the right time. Rates change hour by hour day by day. I used to work for western union..and I remember having problems with my system and in 3 times entering the information for a customer (10 minutes total) the exchange rate changed drastically..it went down by 50 bucks then up by 200 on the third try. So just keep tabs on the rates and when they are great jump on it. Go to currency converter.com for daily and current rates!
Dollar hits 14-month low vs currency basket
The euro rose to near $1.49, its highest level since August 2008, before the demise of Lehman Brothers pushed the world economy to the edge of collapse and sparked a frenzy of dollar buying by investors eager to dump riskier currencies.
Hopes for a stronger recovery outside the United States lifted oil to a seven-week high <CLc1> and pushed gold to a fresh record peak, while demand for commodity-linked currencies such as the Canadian dollar and Brazilian real remained high.
Investors fear a weak U.S. labor market and a protracted recovery will keep interest rates near zero well into 2010.
That makes holding low-yield dollars unattractive, and any appeal the greenback has would be dulled further if other major central banks start lifting interest rates as growth picks up.
Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Donald Kohn bolstered that view on Tuesday, saying a tepid U.S. recovery meant rising inflation is not an imminent threat. [ID:nWEQ001466]
