The American Stock Exchange was recently bought by the New York Stock Exchange, ending a component of American financial history which dates back ...
JP Morgan Chase is one of the oldest. The predecessors to JP Morgan have paid dividends since 1827. The Bank of Manhattan a predecessor was founded in 1799 by Aaron Burr
Sothbeys has been in existance since 1744 but was not a publicly traded company until about 1990.
Bank of New York was first traded in 1792 on the NYSE but has not been continuously traded on that exchange.
Consolidated Edison has been continually traded on the NYSE since 1824. First as New York Gas Light company.
We have seen it with the "Asian contagion" when several countries in Asia crashed. We have seen it with the Japanese stock market crash that fell from 40,000 to less than 10,000.
It did have "some" effect but not all that great. Research those for a clue.
But now the recession is global. They are more sensitive to the US than the other way around. More than they wanted to admit. As recent as last fall they were still talking about the recession being a "US problem" and that they had "decoupled" from our economy.

1>how indian stock exchange effected by american stock exchange?
Vishal,
Term wise, there is no difference because both stock exchanges working in the same operating term and policy. America exchange is older than Indian. majors difference the trading currency where American stock exchange using Dollar and India is rupee. Both Exchanges has Standard & Poor index,
Both has indexes and groupings. A major thing I want to say is America is the super power so, the changes in the American Stock market may reflect India and other countries.
Does this make sense?
i just mean the date when The American Stock Exchange was started

Chaparral Energy in deal to go public
OKLAHOMA CITY — Privately held oil and gas producer Chaparral Energy Inc. would go public as a result of a deal with United Refining Energy Corp., a company created two years ago to make deals in the energy business.
Under the plan announced late Monday, Chaparral shareholders would have a majority of the shares in the new company which would carry its name and would be led by Chaparral's senior management.
The deal is expected to close by Dec. 11. The combined company's shares will trade on the American Stock Exchange until they are approved for transfer to the New York Stock Exchange, under the ticker symbol "CPR."
Assuming a combined company stock price of about $10 per share, the companies said the total value of the new business would be $1.8 billion.
Chaparral shareholders will receive 58 million shares in the combined company, or a 59 percent stake. United Refining shareholders will own 35 percent of the company and the United Refining sponsor will hold a 6 percent stake.
