What is the best option for cell service for a foreign exchange student that will be here for 1 year?
optiononeinternational.com

* Would like to not have to sign the contract for her
* She is with us for only a month, then with her other host family for the remainder of the year.
* She would like to take her cell back to Germany (tri/quad band phone?)

Most service providers (in the US?) have pre-paid cell phone service. These are, ofcourse, more expensive than post paid service. There is a connection fee associated and also the balance on the card will decrease with the time you use the phone. These plans also come with a certain amount of free talk time with the recharge amount that you choose.
As for the phone, you can buy any phone that the service provider provides but you will not be able to get the discount that they offer when you buy 2 or 3 year contract. Rarely, they do offer 1 year contract, its worth you asking them if they offer it at the time.
Also the phones are locked so that they cannot be used outside the country, for that you will need to unlock it from the service provider once she wants to go back (but that applies only if the phone is a quad band).

What country would be good for foreign exchange?

I'm a high school student and I was thinking of participating in a foreign exchange program maybe in a year or two.
I'm really having a difficult time deciding on what country I might want to go to.
I want to go to a country that doesn't speak English, but preferably not Japan (I don't know why.)
I'm currently learning Chinese but I am open to any other options and languages.
Any suggestions?

Why not a European country? The reason I say this is because if you were in Europe not only would you be able to tour the country you study in but you'd also be able to visit tons of other countries due to their close proximity. For example, I'm transferring to a school in Spain next semester and during Spring Break I plan to travel to France.
Europe is a great choice in my opinion.
But China is cool too : D

Foreign Exchange Currency options?

If I wanted to buy put options, the right to sell GBP for USD at a certain rate, at any time in the next 3 months. To the sum of 500,000 pounds, roughly what kind of cost would I be looking at.

Thanks

What are some foreign exchange programs that are open to high schoolers?

I am incredibly intrsted in studying abroad for a year. owever I don't think that its really posible to have someone living in my current home? What are some of my options?

To study abroad as a high school student, you don't have to necessarily "exchange" with someone. The term exchange student doesn't usually apply anymore to a direct student exchange (you go there to live with a family, and their kid lives with your own family). When I studied abroad my Senior year in High School in Ireland I used CCI (Center for Cultural Interchange). This organization offers programs in many different countries for high school students, college students, and adults. This was a great fit for me and everyone I came in contact with was very helpful. I do have to say though, that it does get expensive to study abroad. There's a price for the program plus your plane ticket to wherever you are going. You can apply for scholarships and looking at other programs is good for comparing prices. But the price of the program varies with different countries so do your research. I hope you end up going because studying abroad is a great experience that will continue to positively affect you long after your done.

i live in australia and want to buy USD for o/s holiday. is the bank or money exchange bureau the best option?

I notice foreign exchange bureaus charge no commission - banks seem to charge flat fee - what seems to be best. I figured if there is no commission the rate would not be good
the country i am visiting does not have ATM

G'day!

I'm an American, but I find when I travel overseas that it is much cheaper to get the money from an ATM. Visa and the banks charge the standard conversion rate and the same flat fee as if you were using an out out-of-network machine (usually two bucks, give or take). I spent ten days in Italy last year and it worked great.

I'm sure it's the same when you travel here. Good luck!

US Dollar to Continue Appreciating According to Options, Futures Data

A dramatic US Dollar rally against the Euro and other key counterparts has forced a similarly sharp shift in Forex Options sentiment, and options traders are now the most bearish Euros/bullish US Dollars in approximately 12 months. Delayed Forex Futures data likewise shows that speculative Non-Commercial traders are similarly bearish the Euro/US Dollar pair, and we believe that recent tumbles are further proof that the Euro set an important medium-term top and is likely to continue lower through upcoming trade.

British Pound/US Dollar Options Analysis

Forex Futures and Options sentiment data points a much more nuanced picture for the British Pound against the US Dollar. The GBP is among the very few major currencies that have remained relatively unchanged against the resurgent Greenback, and positioning data likewise suggests it may continue to outperform through upcoming trade. Forex options trends actually show that traders are increasingly betting on GBP stability. All the while, Non-Commercials futures traders’ positioning is essentially near the middle of its year-long range. Watch for British Pound stability.

Retail FX to where?? @ Forex Factory

Aside from OTC metals, only one rigid comes to belief, and that's IB. And not to resound like I'm being a shill for IB, I ethically don't have knowledge of of any other intermediary that all offers approaching all those features and does them well (other than the bump level firms, but you'd necessity much more than $500k for them). There are a few options that will do everything above except EUREX and Liffe, but if you have a yen for international exchanges and retail access, IB is good-looking much the only option (which is out of luck, it would be perceptive if there were multiple options, more game).
