Knowing when to give up and enjoy what life brings
Hi everyone, for those of you who believe in karma I wanted to let you know that immediately after my column on H1N1 flu hit the streets two weeks ago I was stricken with a terrible cold. My heart raced, my fever surged and I coughed repeatedly as my thinking became decidedly 'Old Testament.'
I'm feeling a bit better now, thanks. And just in time. My wife and I are having a baby next week and I have to get ready for a good three-month stretch of sleepless nights.
(I always try to take credit for having the baby whenever I can but my wife always points out that she's actually the one who has to suffer through it. I just have to try to imagine what she's going through each time she 'shares' her anxieties and frustrations about being super-huge and uncomfortable all the time.)
This isn't our first baby but it will be our first baby while we already have a toddler in the house. I began to understand our dilemma one day last week when I caught my daughter trying to 'feed' some crackers into her dolly's mouth. I guess we'll have to keep an eye on that.
