I have been a business broker and real estate broker for over 25 years. It is a very hard business. You should have one of two things available to you before you start out. 1. Two to three years of income saved or a spouse who has a good career and is willing to support you as you build your business.
I would also recommend the following:
1. Get the CBI from the Internation Buisness Brokers Assoc.
2. Get a real estate licenses
3. Have MBA & or a CPA or Masters of Finance.
4. Work for an existing broker
5. Become an expert on finance
6. Have OUTSTANDING PEOPLE SKILLS!
7. Know how to keep your ego in check

I want to reinstate my corporation in the state of Illinois. I want to use my corporation business license to be able to work as a financial broker. I want to find money for individual business seeking funding for different projects, such as golf courses, resorts, motels, etc. Do I need to make other legal requirements in order to conduct business as a financial broker in the state of Illinois and throughout the USA? Can I use my corporation License?
Yes the above is right. You wouldn't call yourself a financial broker (that is a licensed (series 7, 63, 3) individual who conducts stock/bond/futures contracts with other individuals,) but more a venture capitalist. Check with your state laws of course, but my guess is that you are "networking" individuals to mutual investments...as more a "money broker", and if I'm not mistaken, I would think it would be legal in any state. Kind of a sales position. But again, this is Yahoo Answsers, and anything we say can't be held against us.....so check with a lawyer and your local state laws......good luck!
I HAVE 2 MILLION UMBRELLA POLICY ON MY HOME . i DON'T HAVE ANY EMPLOYEES. DO I NEED BUSINESS LIABILITY INSURANCE.? IM STRICTLY SALES BROKER IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS
A typical homeowners policy will not cover business liability. That goes for your personal umbrella as well. There's the bad news, the good news is that a few insurance companies will endorse their policies to cover liability arising from a home based business. Check with your agent to see if your company will do this. If the coverage afforded by the endorsement is not adequate or not offered he or she can suggest a commercial general liability or business owners package policy for a relatively low annual premium.
Though your risk is low I would suggest you have liability insurance. If you work with larger companies they will often require that you carry minimum limits of liability insurance.
no but I have heard of this one it called www.livetotalwellness.com/go4greenhealth
I have owned and run a student loan company for the past five years and am looking to move into the insurance field. I recently became licensed in property and causulty and want to begin selling.
I am looking to offer my employees and customers different options for carriers based on service and price.
Does anyone know any specific companies in Illinois or nationally that will allow me to broker their services?
Is the pricing you receive from these companies based on volume?
What can I expect in terms of fees paid? Risiduals?
Is the book of business that I build mine until I sell it or is it property of the companies that I broker?
I will stop there as i have just begun investingating this matter more seriously. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I am just looking for direction before I start contacting companies. If your in Chicago and can shed some light, I would love to meet up for lunch in the city.
